Canyamel is surrounded on both sides by wooded, 200 to 300 meters high hills, which open to the southwest in the cap of the Pinar o des Raix, and to the northeast, where there are also the stalactite caves, in the Cap Vermell.

In the middle of Canyamel flows the Torrente Canyamel and divides the village into the touristy southern half with hotels, pedestrian area and the Torre de Canyamel and the fashionable northern half of the Cap Vermell, in addition to many villas also the golf course and the Coves d'Artà are located. The bridge over the Torrente was renovated and completed in June 2008.

The sandy beach of the village, the Platja de Canyamel, is about 300 meters long and well frequented, especially in the summer season.
